Happy adoption stories
Many of our adopters, volunteers, donors and friends send us stories and photos of the animals who give them so much joy. We dedicate this space to all of you whose lives have been changed by animals.

Bianca
I first met Bianca in August 2024, when she was living under my flat in Dunedin. My flatmates and I were instantly smitten. She was a shy little thing, clearly unwell, and it was the middle of a freezing winter. We knew she needed help, so we brought her to SPCA. The staff were incredible and took great care of our wee stray!
I checked the adoption listings every day after that, hoping she'd be okay. When she was finally listed, I went straight down to see her. We were reunited, and the rest is history.
Now we live together in a cosy house tucked in the forests of Pōneke. She's come so far from the timid cat hiding under the floorboards to a confident, cuddly girl. Her loving nature hasn't changed a bit, and I feel so lucky to have her in my life.
