Laundry Volunteer
Nelson Centre
We are looking for volunteers to help with the daily work in our laundry and donation area.
This crucial role is a vital part of our daily operations. Blankets, towels and other laundry items are changed daily and require cleaning to ensure all our furry friends have the most comfortable sleeping spaces. This means there is always loads to be done! We also get donations that need to be sorted, cleaned and organised.
- Minimum age: 16 years.
- Personal time commitment: one shift once a week or fortnight for a minimum of 6 months.
- Training: you will receiving training while on-the-job during your shift.
- Experience: None required.
- Tasks: Using the washing machine, dryer, and hanging out washing. Cleaning donated goods and bedding. Folding and allocating clean laundry within the centre. Folding and storing excess clean laundry in the storeroom. Sorting through incoming donations.
We have a flexible rostering system and can work with your schedule. The centre is open to volunteers from 8am – 4:30pm (Monday – Sunday).

A few things to note:
- You must be at least 15 to volunteer in our Op Shops.
- You must be at least 16 to volunteer at our Centres. If you are younger, please check out our sections on 'Volunteering for Kids', 'Volunteering from Home' or talk to your family about fostering opportunities.
- You may need to provide an up to date Ministry of Justice check during this process, and we'll ask about any medical conditions so we can ensure your safety while volunteering.
