Volunteer positions
Barn volunteer
Auckland (Mangere) Centre
We need help in our barn and farm area.
The day starts with feeding and cleaning the smaller animals housed there, but there is also interaction with some of our larger farm animals such as the goats and pigs. Volunteers in this area need to be comfortable around both the smaller and larger animals and prepared to muck in when needed, in all weathers.
We need volunteers who:
- Are fairly fit, hardworking and reliable.
- Have excellent communication skills – both verbal and written.
- Are at least 16 years old.
You must be able to commit to a regular four-hour shift for a period of at least six months. Both morning and afternoon shifts are available for:
- Wednesday (morning or afternoon)
- Thursday (morning or afternoon)
- Weekends (Saturday and Sunday, morning and afternoon)
Please note, it is critical that volunteers apply for areas where they have an interest in volunteering. Volunteers may not be able to switch to other areas after applying. If your desired volunteer area isn’t currently accepting applications, it would be preferable to wait until that position reopens.
If you are interested in this role, please fill in the application online.
If you have any questions, please phone us on 09 256 7304 or email auckland.volunteer@spca.nz.
